How to choose a domain name?
How To Choose a Domain Name? Choosing a Domain name is the most important step when domaining (verb used that means when registering domains). When I started out domaining, I earned some money selling a banner I made, to a guy. With that money I bought a domain, which I sold three days later for $50. Earning $42 of profit I thought, wow this is really easy and I used that $42 to buy more domains. All the domains I bought with that money were garbage, nobody wanted them. I thought they were really cool, but some were really long or unpronounceable. That helped me understand how important is to pick a domain name. Back on track though, in choosing a domain name, you have to think about these things: Length: The domain you choose can’t have 30 characters on it and you can’t use long phrases. Words: You have to use the words that better describe your site. Users have to know what the site is about by only reading their URL. Extension: The extension you choose is also important, if you are looking to open a new company the best extension will be .com, if you are planning to open a nonprofit organization the best extension will be .org and if you are planning to open and information site about anything you should use .info. If you are looking to buy a domain for inversion or to sell it to another person or company, the things I recommend for you to look at are Google Results, found at www.google.com, and the overture result-- that means the number of persons that looked for that word in the past month, which can be found at http://www.inventory.overture.com. Another thing to look at the domains is if their name is brandable (meaning if it can be used for a product name of a company) so that it can be easily sold to a company.
